PERDIDA EN MANHATTAN

"A face that escaped from that ancient fascination of silent film, where only the enormous eyes had something to say, fascinating play of the brushstrokes of her eyebrows, two dark bird’s wings concealed under the formidable forehead, imperceptible or wrathful quivering alone compensated for the deficiencies of the dialogue, issued almost regretfully from a fruity but always contemptuous mouth. Luis Miguel - “La Media Vuelta”

Ah, Mexico’s elite. Lola Beltrán (Donne sull’orlo di una crisi di nervi),

Juan GabrielJorge Russek, Javier Marc, Carlos Monsiváis, Ofelia Medina, KATY JURADO, and of course the

Maria Felix look-a-like Gloria Peralta

I can remember seeing this video as a kid and not really knowing who these incredibly talented people were at the time (with the exception of Juanga…everyone who lives in a latin home knows who he is by the age of two. lol) but I remember falling in love with the black and white visuals and the music & lyrics didn’t hurt either.

It’s one of Luis Miguel’s best covers (original composition by Jose Alfredo Jimenez) and I thought it would be a lovely way to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with El Sol de Mexico! Viva Mexico!

P.S. If you want to know who’s who, hit the links.
